Iran launched a barrage of missiles and drones toward Israel on Monday, also warning the United States that its military has been given free rein to attack American targets following the Trump administration's massive strikes on Iranian nuclear sites.
It is reported that at least 8,000 people in Israel have been left without electricity as a result of the attacks.
Meanwhile, the head of the United Nations nuclear watchdog said Monday that "very severe damage" is expected at Iran's underground facility at Fordow after a U.S. airstrike there with sophisticated bunker-busting bombs, the AP reports.
With Sunday's attacks on Iranian nuclear sites, the United States entered Israel's war, raising fears of a wider regional conflict. Iran said the US had crossed "a very big red line" with its dangerous move to strike the three countries with missiles and 30,000-pound bunker-busting bombs.
Israel has said its defense systems are working to intercept the latest Iranian threat, which appears to have targeted the northern and central areas of the country.
Iran has described the attack as a new wave of its "Operation True Promise 3", saying it targeted the Israeli cities of Haifa and Tel Aviv, according to Iranian state television.
Explosions were also heard in Jerusalem. There were no immediate reports of damage.
In Iran, witnesses reported that Israeli airstrikes hit areas around the Iranian capital, Tehran, at noon. It was not immediately clear what was targeted.
