Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has accused the United States of choosing an "irresponsible military adventure" whenever "a diplomatic solution is on the table."
"The Iranians will never bow to pressure," Araghchi wrote on the X platform, a day after both sides accused each other of attacks in the Strait of Hormuz, while the US also struck other Iranian vessels at sea.
"Is this a low-pressure tactic?" he asked. "Or the result of someone fooling US President Donald Trump again into another quagmire?"
Despite the exchange of fire, Trump declared that the ceasefire remains in effect. He aims to create opportunities for talks that would end the war launched by the US and Israel in February.
Iran is expected to respond to the US proposals on Friday, according to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
"I hope it's a serious offer, I really hope so," Rubio said during a visit to Italy.
