Lithuanian intelligence has reported that Russia is expanding its military units on the border with NATO.

In its annual report on security threats, Lithuanian Intelligence has specified that Russia could use them as a hub in a potential conflict with NATO, following the war in Ukraine.

The report also specifies that if sanctions are lifted on Russia, it could be ready for a large-scale military conflict with the North Atlantic Alliance within six years.

The report's publication came a day after NATO member Finland announced it plans to repeal a long-standing ban on accepting nuclear weapons on its territory.

The move, which could open the possibility of deploying these weapons in Finland in times of war, has immediately prompted a reaction from Russia.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has threatened that, in this option, Russia would retaliate against Finland, warning that the action would result in an escalation of tensions on the European continent.
