The US ambassador in Belgrade, Chistopher Hill, has assessed the European Commission's Progress Report for Serbia as a "glass half full".
On Thursday, he said that he is convinced that Serbia has understood that it should distance itself from Russia because of this country's aggression on Ukraine.
"We all know about these difficulties, but my opinion is that Serbia has realized that it has to leave Russia and I think we are seeing progress, that Serbia is doing what it has to do. Progress was also seen in New York, when Serbia joined 145 other countries in condemning Russia's attack on its neighbor," said Hill, "b92" reports.
The Progress report for Serbia, amid many criticisms for failures in many areas, also highlights Serbia's position on the war in Ukraine.
Serbia is among the only countries in Europe that has not imposed sanctions on Russia, but has adopted several resolutions at the UN condemning this Russian attack on the neighboring country.
In addition to the USA, even the official Brussels has continuously asked Serbia to coordinate its foreign policy with the EU, where it intends to join.
