Greece has asked for help from other countries to put out the fires that are approaching the northern suburbs of Athens, "BBC" reports.
Help is expected to arrive from Spain, Italy, Turkey and Canada, while France has offered a "Super Puma" helicopter to extinguish the fires, and the Czech Republic has offered 75 firefighters and 25 vehicles for help.
The fire has been burning for more than 24 hours now, while the firefighters are having a hard time controlling it.
A school in Nea Penteli is on fire, while residents are complaining that there are not enough fire trucks and fire engines.
Houses and property were also caught by fire in the areas of Ano Vrilissia, Chalandri and Nea Penteli.
Chalandri is 8.8 kilometers from the center of Athens.

"The air is oppressive", said the Greek journalist Ioannis Papadopoulos.
The facilities of the National Observatory of Athens in Penteli are also at risk.
