Germany is expected to ban the entry of travelers from the UK, Portugal, Brazil and South Africa for fear of spreading new variants of the coronavirus.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs in Germany has warned that the decision will be taken in order to protect the citizens of the country.

Meanwhile, Belgium has banned its citizens from vacationing abroad until March, in order to prevent the large spread of the coronavirus.

Other European Union states have rejected tough measures, such as travel and entry bans.

The German Interior Ministry has announced that it will go ahead with its plans even if other EU countries do not agree with these measures.

The transport of goods and medical equipment will not be affected by the measures that will soon be discussed by the German Government.
