A body has been found during the search for TV and radio presenter Dr Michael Mosley on the Greek island of Symi.

The 67-year-old disappeared on Wednesday after going for a walk from Agios Nikolaos beach, the BBC reports.

The body, which has not yet been officially identified, was found on a small rock on the rocky hill north-east of Pedi village, near the beach of Agia Marina.

Authorities had been searching for Dr Mosley in a remote mountainous area.

The mayor of Symi said the body was found while teams were searching the coastline with cameras and approaching a cave near the beach of Agia Marina.

A police source told BBC News that the deceased had died "a few days ago".

Greek authorities have been searching for Mosley for five days, and efforts have included firefighters, dogs, helicopters, drones, local people and officers from Symi and off the island.

Mosley is best known for his television programs including Trust Me I'm a Doctor and the BBC Radio 4 podcast Just One Thing.

Dr Mosley studied medicine in London and qualified as a doctor, but for the past two decades has worked as a presenter, documentary maker, journalist and author.
