The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has met with the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, on the sidelines of a regional meeting in Astana, Kazakhstan, the AP agency reports.
The two leaders are participating in the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) held in Kazakhstan.
The Kremlin said earlier this week that Putin and Erdogan will meet to discuss the Ukraine issue among other issues.
Turkey has maintained close ties with Moscow and Kiev and has repeatedly offered to host peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.
