Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is the "biggest threat" to security in the Middle East, according to a social media post from the Turkish presidency.

"Netanyahu has demonstrated once again that he is the biggest threat to the security of the region," Erdogan told Qatar's Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, in a phone call, the presidency said in a post on X.

"Noting that he has maintained intensive diplomatic contacts regarding the clashes caused by Israel's attacks on Iran, President Erdogan said he will continue his efforts to end the spiral of violence," the post further said.

"Emphasizing that Israel's attacks cannot be allowed to overshadow the humanitarian crisis and genocide in Gaza, President Erdogan warned against allowing the incidents to spill over into Syria," the post continued.

Since Israel's war in Gaza began, Erdogan has been one of Israel's harshest and most vocal critics, regularly calling it a terrorist state and comparing Netanyahu to Hitler.
