China released ten Indian soldiers on Thursday after they were taken prisoner during clashes between the two countries on Monday.
The India Today newspaper, citing military sources, said a lieutenant colonel and three majors were among those released, the BBC reported on Friday.
The Indian government has not confirmed the news, nor has it said that any of its soldiers were captured.
Fighting in the Galwan Valley left at least 20 Indian soldiers dead and heightened tensions between the two military powers.
China denied that any of its soldiers were killed, while another 76 Indian soldiers were injured.
The border between these two states has a very weak demarcation and can move due to topographical changes, reports KOHA.
Media reports said soldiers clashed on high ridges nearly 4.300 meters in steep terrain, where some soldiers had fallen into the fast-flowing Galwan River.

The sides have been at loggerheads over a border dispute, but Monday's fighting was the first to result in deaths in 45 years. Unconfirmed reports by Indian media say that at least 40 Chinese soldiers have been killed, but China has not released any information.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zaho Lijian said India had crossed the border twice, "provoking and attacking Chinese personnel, which resulted in serious physical confrontation among border forces on both sides."
The Galwan River Valley, with its harsh climate and high-altitude terrain, is close to the Aksai Chin region, a conflict region claimed by India but controlled by China.
