Democrats are stepping up pressure on US President Donald Trump following the release of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's long-awaited report on Russia's meddling in the 2016 presidential election.
They demand that Mueller publicly testify before Congress regarding his long paper, which he compiled after 22 months of investigations, "BBC" reported, "Koha Ditore" reports.
The redacted version of the report, officially released Thursday, reveals that the president tried to secure Mueller's firing, in what could be considered an attempt to obstruct the investigation. Trump's legal team has described the publication of this report as a "complete triumph".
The Russian Foreign Ministry, meanwhile, rejected the report's findings, claiming it failed to find evidence of Moscow's meddling in the 2016 US election.
The redacted 448-page document is the result of a lengthy investigation by Mueller, who was appointed to look into allegations of Russian election meddling and possible collusion with Moscow by people on Trump's campaign team.
The report finds no evidence of criminal collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, but neither does it fully exonerate the president from efforts to obstruct these investigations.
