Democratic leaders of the US Senate called on President Donald Trump's administration to impose sanctions on Russia after US intelligence officials told Congress that Russia is again trying to interfere in the US presidential election.
Senators Chuck Schumer, Bob Menendez and Sherrod Brown wrote to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin asking them to sanction the Russian Government and any individuals involved in influencing the November election.
Their letter comes days after US intelligence officials held a closed-door conference call with House lawmakers.
During this conference, lawmakers were told that Russia and other countries are threatening the integrity of US elections.
