Talks between American and Russian officials on a possible peace deal in Ukraine are set to begin in Saudi Arabia.
Separate talks between the US and Ukraine took place in Riyadh last night, a meeting which the Ukrainian delegation described as productive, the BBC reported.
Meanwhile, Russia and Ukraine have continued to attack each other. The Ukrainian air force said it shot down 57 of 99 drones launched overnight, while Russia reported that 28 drones were intercepted in the other direction.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said greater pressure is needed on Moscow after the overnight attacks, which he called an everyday reality.
Ukrainian delegation continues to stay in Saudi Arabia for further negotiations with the US
The Ukrainian delegation is continuing to stay in Saudi Arabia for further talks with the US, an adviser told the Ukrainian news agency "Unian".
Serhiy Leshchenko has said that such negotiations do not last just one day and can continue for months, the BBC reports.
"We just need to understand that the meetings will be quite regular and not every meeting ends with public statements," he said.
The talks with the US are about "infrastructure and maritime transport security" and a mutual ceasefire, according to Leshchenko.
Asked if any results can be expected from the talks by Easter (April 20), he says this is a good "symbol" but "in the realities of war it may not necessarily work."
