Within a month, Romania has allocated 200 fines to people who have not respected the measures established to combat the spread of the coronavirus.

Fines of up to 80 euros were distributed between March 24 and April 19.

Among those fined is the mayor of Bucharest, Robert Negoita, KOHA reports.

He was fined 2 euros after he was caught riding a bicycle in a closed park in the capital. He excused himself, saying he was inspecting the park, but his argument was rejected because such a thing is not within his competence. He said that every citizen must obey the law and that he would accept the consequences of illegal action.

So far, 507 people have died in Romania and another 9 have tested positive for the coronavirus.
