Former US Vice President Joe Biden said Monday night that the decision to run for president in 2020 will depend on whether he or his family are "ready," although he emphasized his preparation.
"I think I'm the most qualified person in the country to be president," Mr. Biden told an audience in Missoula, Montana.
"The issues we face as a country today are issues I've been concerned with all my life, middle class efforts, foreign policy. But my family and I have to decide together if we are ready. We do everything as a family".
Mr. Biden, former Democratic president Barack Obama's two-term vice president, said he would make a decision on the 2020 campaign within six weeks or two months.
"I have a niece and a nephew whose father died, who love me and want me to be near them. I want to be there to take care of them, so we have to see if we can make that happen as a family," he said, referring to the children of his son Beau Biden, who died in 2015 of brain cancer.
