The President of the United States, Joe Biden, has called on Americans to reject political violence and recommit to peaceful solutions to disputes.

A day after the assassination attempt against the former Republican president, Donald Trump, Biden said that there is no place for any kind of violence in America.

"The shooting at Donald Trump's rally in Pennsylvania takes us all back a step. There is no place for violence of any kind in America. We resolve disputes at the ballot box, not with bullets," he said.

The FBI has released an update on its investigation into the attempted assassination of Trump, but has not offered many new details.

The bureau has reiterated that it has not yet managed to understand the motive why Thomas Mattheë Crooks may have tried to kill the former president, but it is examining the flow of the event.

Crooks has not been known to authorities in the past and the gun he used in the shooting was legally purchased.

"There are no current public safety concerns," the FBI said, the BBC reported.
