EU ambassadors have agreed on a new round of sanctions against Russia, the bloc's diplomats say.
The 16th package of sanctions includes a ban on primary Russian imports of aluminum and the listing of 73 new shadow fleet ships, Reuters news agency reports.
The sanctions will be formally approved by EU ministers on Monday, on the third anniversary of Moscow's full occupation of Ukraine.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the EU will have to come to the negotiating table to end the war in Ukraine, as it has sanctions against Russia.
Rubio made the statement after the meeting between the US and Russia in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday.
