An American citizen has been sentenced in Saudi Arabia to 16 years in prison because of several critical posts on Twitter, which focused on the Government, his son has told the BBC.
Saad Ibrahim Almadi, 72, who also holds Saudi citizenship, was arrested in November after traveling from Florida to Riyadh to see his family, the BBC wrote on Tuesday.
His son has already spoken publicly for the first time about his father's case.
Ibrahim Almadi has said that he does not want his father to die in prison.
He said that his father is being held under torture conditions since he was arrested by the Saudi authorities.
The Saudi court said he was jailed after being found guilty of trying to destabilize the country and supporting terrorist groups.
Ibrahimi said that the only evidence that the court has presented are 14 tweets.

The posts criticize the old parties of the city of Mecca and Jeddah, also mentioning the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Saad has also been found guilty of failing to report terrorism.
The judges wanted to sentence him to the maximum prison term of 42 years, he said.
