The head of the group that was helping people escape from Belarus, has been found dead near his home in Ukraine, the BBC reports.
Vitaly Shishov was found hanging in a park in Kiev, a day after he was reported missing. The police have launched a murder investigation.
It is being investigated whether Shishov was killed and made to look like a suicide.
Shishov was associated with the Belarusian House in Ukraine, helping those fleeing Belarus after the violent suppression of protests.
Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania have been favorite destinations for Belarusians fleeing persecution following mass protests that began after the August 2020 presidential election in Belarus.
