US Central Command said rescue efforts are underway in western Iraq.

The second plane involved in the incident landed safely, the statement said.

"The incident occurred in friendly airspace during Operation Epic Fury, and rescue efforts are ongoing. Two aircraft were involved in the incident. One of the aircraft crashed in western Iraq, and the second landed safely. It was not caused by hostile or friendly fire," Centcom said.

Centcom did not say when the incident occurred, who was on the plane that crashed, or how the incident occurred.
