A powerful 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck Hualien in eastern Taiwan on Tuesday, Reuters reports.

Taiwanese authorities said the quake shook buildings in the capital, Taipei. They said that the earthquake was 5.5 kilometers deep.

Taiwan has been hit by hundreds of aftershocks since a 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck Hualien earlier this month.
