Powerful 6.1 magnitude earthquake in Japan

A powerful 6.1-magnitude earthquake hit Iwate and Aomori prefectures in northern Japan on Tuesday local time, the Japan Seismological Agency reports Reuters.

The epicenter was in the northern coastal part of Iwate prefecture, while no tsunami warning has been issued.

No damage was reported.
