At least 12 people have died after a plane used for skydiving crashed in Missouri, local authorities have said, the BBC reported.
According to emergency management officials, the plane, rented from a skydiving company, took off from Butler Airport, where it failed to gain altitude after takeoff and crashed about 200 meters from the airport.
As a result of the accident, all people on board – 11 parachutists and the pilot – died.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, no air traffic control services were being provided at the time of the accident, as the plane was operating in airspace where communication with control was not mandatory.
