Twelve people were injured and homes were destroyed as the southern Ukrainian city of Mykolaiv came under heavy fire Monday night, Ukrainian officials said.
"The enemy bombarded the city massively at night," Kyrylo Tymoshenko, an official of the President's Office, said on Telegram.
"The Russians direct their missiles at residential areas, shopping malls, recreation centers and residential buildings," he added.
Oleksandr Sienkevych, the mayor of Mykolaiv, said two hospitals were damaged by the bombing, but there were no injuries.
The regional military administration said Russian forces continued their fire against communities around Mykolayiv, but caused no casualties.
Villages along the border between Mykolaiv and Kherson have become front lines as Ukrainian forces try to break through and liberate the region.
