Four people were killed, eight injured and six others missing after a Russian drone crashed into a block of buildings in the southern Ukrainian port city of Odesa on Saturday, authorities said.

"Russia continues to fight civilians... One of the enemy's drones has hit a residential building in Odesa. 18 apartments have been destroyed," said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a post on Telegram.

According to Zelensky, the drone was a Shahed, a large kamikaze drone, which was supplied to Russia by Iran. Russia has launched several thousand of these throughout the war at targets deep inside Ukraine.

Odesa regional governor Oleh Kiper said work was continuing to clear the rubble and that one man had been pulled out alive, having likely been in the basement at the time of the impact.
