On September 3, 2024, Egzon Azemi of the Vetëvendosje Movement appeared in court accused of attacking Kosovo policemen.
This attack, according to the Prosecutor's Office, happened in 2015, when the Vetëvendosje Movement was protesting against the demarcation with Montenegro and the Association of Municipalities with a Serbian Majority.
Egzon Azemi, together with Kushtrim Avdimetajn, Veron Hasani, Luan Hoti, Ardian Huli and Naim Bunjak, are accused of having attacked the Kosovo police during the protest, hitting them with stones, concrete slabs and other hard tools.
As a result of this, the members of the Kosovo Police suffered minor injuries, where Ismail Sadiku, Ekrem Vllasa and Naim Berisha were injured.

In the court session of September 3, 2024, against Egzon Azemi and others, due to the clarification of a circumstance, judge Eroll Gashi decided for a ten-minute break.
During this break, the accused Azemi and the injured police officer Berisha went to the court corridor to have a private conversation.
While journalists and cameras were standing in the courtroom waiting for the court session to continue, in the corridor of the court, police officer Naim Berisha asked a favor from Egzon Azemi of Vetëvendosje.

Kabashi asks the Police Inspectorate and the Prosecutor's Office to investigate the police's illegal request to the accused
The researcher of IKD, Flamur Kabashi, said that the conversation between policeman Berisha and Egzon Azemi of VV is unprecedented.
According to Kabashi, this relationship between the accused Azemi and the victim Berisha undermines the credibility of the victim and the entire integrity of the judicial process.
"It is unprecedented for a police officer who is the victim of a criminal offense in a judicial process to have such a close personal relationship with the accused person, asking him for illegal favors. Undoubtedly, this personal report significantly undermines the credibility of the victim and the witness in the judicial procedure, and thus significantly undermines the integrity of the entire judicial process", said Kabashi.
Also, Kabashi announced that the Police Inspectorate of Kosovo and the State Prosecutor's Office should deal with this issue.
"We hope that the competent management within the police and the IPK will handle this case in a professional manner, as we want to believe that the prosecutor of the case will also handle this case as interference in the administration of justice", Kabashi added.

Apart from the fact that the indictment against Egzon Azemi of VV was filed almost 9 years ago, this case risks remaining unresolved due to the statute of limitations. "Oath of Justice" has asked the court about these issues, but has not been able to get an answer.
After a period of time defined in the Criminal Code, court cases are considered outdated or prescribed. In the present case, according to the Criminal Code that was in force at the time of the commission of the criminal offense, the absolute limitation period in this case is ten years. This means after the passage of this period, from the time the criminal offense was committed, the charge is rejected and the defendants cannot be tried.
Since the criminal offense for which Azemi and others are accused took place in November 2015, this case still has about a year to deal with. If it is not resolved by a final judgment by November of 2025, then there will be a court decision, which will establish that the case has reached the statute of limitations.
The prosecution filed the indictment on December 16, 2015, 28 days after the criminal offenses committed, for which Azemi and others are accused.
So far, only the initial session of this case has been held on September 18 for the accused Egzon Azemi, Luan Hoti and Naim Bunjaku.
Consequently, the court needed 8 years, 9 months and 3 days to prepare the start of this trial against them.
As for the accused Kushtrim Avdimetaj, Veron Hasni and Ardian Huli, the judicial process has been separated and is being developed separately.
Regarding the other sessions, how many were scheduled, how many failed, what were the reasons for the failure, what were the judge's actions after their failure and when the case against the three accused was separated, the Oath of Justice has sent questions to the Basic Court in Pristina. But, until now, he has not received an answer.

After the episode of the show "Oath for Justice" was finished and the promo was published on Thursday, October 10, where the request of the police to the Vetëvendosje official was heard, despite many silent requests, Egzon Azemi was notified to be interviewed.
During the interview, Azemi repeated saying that the request of the police was to be demoted, but if there is "exercise of influence" he is ready to appear before justice.
