(Updated) - On Tuesday, Kosovo's U20 basketball team secured qualification for the quarterfinals of the European Championship Division B. This has been considered Kosovo's greatest success with young age groups in basketball.
But immediately on Wednesday, Kosovo U20 suffered a very deep defeat. In Yerevan, Armenia, the young Kosovo basketball players suffered a score of 88:44 from Turkey.
It was a valuable match for first place in Group D. The Turks are favorites to win European B and they proved their quality against Kosovo.
The first quarter ended 26:10 for Turkey. Meanwhile, in the second ten minutes, Kosovo's basketball players did not score a single point, while conceding a full 24. It rarely happens in basketball that a team does not score a single point for an entire quarter.
Thus, the score after the first half was 50:10 for Turkey.
In the third quarter, the Turks stopped the momentum, just like in the fourth. 16:16 was the result of the third quarter, while 22:18 for Turkey in the fourth quarter.
Orges Shatri led Kosovo with 11 points and four rebounds. Erolt Rrahmani scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
Kosovo advances to the quarterfinals from second place in Group D. Kosovo's young basketball players defeated Sweden, Albania, and Hungary for a place in the quarterfinals.
