South Korean car company Kia sold 2.903.619 vehicles in 2022, an increase of 4.6 percent compared to 2021.
Kia achieved a 5.4 percent increase in sales in markets outside of South Korea compared to last year – a total of 2.362.551 vehicles were sold. Sales in Korea totaled 541.068 vehicles.
All three best-selling models were SUVs: the best-selling model was the Sportage (452.068 units sold), followed by the Seltos (310.418 vehicles; not sold in Europe) and the Sorento with 222.570.
In 2023, Kia aims to sell 3.2 million vehicles worldwide, of which 585.120 vehicles in South Korea and 2.61 million vehicles in all other countries.
Kia aims to maintain sales momentum in 2023 by deploying business expansion strategies in various markets, successfully developing purpose-built vehicles with an adaptable production system, and launching customer-focused products and solutions.
The company will also work on strengthening its leading position in the global electric vehicle market by leveraging its unique offering of electrified vehicles. This year, Kia will introduce several long-awaited models, such as the large luxury SUV EV9 in the spring of 2023 (in Europe it is expected in the fall).
