1 August 2017 is a historic and emotional day for Opel and Vauxhall.
The sale of Opel Automobile GmbH, with its Opel and Vauxhall brands, from General Motors to the PSA group has been completed, reports Koha.net. Both these brands are now part of the French PSA group and this agreement is effective immediately.
"We opened a new chapter in our history by becoming part of the PSA group after 88 years with General Motors. We will continue our way by producing German technology that is available to everyone", said the heads of Opel and Vauxhall.
The integration of Opel and Vauxhall will give PSA a market share of around 17 percent in Europe, making PSA the second largest carmaker on the continent.
"Our brand will remain independent. With its German and British roots, Opel and Vauxhall are a perfect addition to PSA's portfolio which consists of Peugeot, Citroen and DS. As part of the PSA group, we will strengthen the power of our brands even more", PSA leaders said.
