Last month a report suggested that one of the most iconic car companies will merge with an electric one. This is now official. Porche, Rimac and Buggati have created a company called Buggati-Rimac, which is headquartered in Zagreb, Croatia, and will open its doors to employees at the end of the year.
With this decision, the Croatian company has 55 percent of the enterprise, while Porsche owns 45 percent. In addition, the German car manufacturer still has 24 percent of Rimac, after investing 83 million. Buggati-Rimac will initially produce two cars as part of the new partnership.
The Chiron will still continue to be manufactured at the company's facility in Molsheim, France. In the future, more jointly developed cars will join the range - all of which will likely be hybrids or fully electric - but it's unclear where the company plans to build those cars.
"This is a really exciting moment", they said from Rimac. "The company has progressed very quickly and has joined the company for another level. Buggati and Rimac are a perfect match for each other and both contribute".
