When the Cybertruck was introduced by Tesla at the end of 2019, 250 thousand orders were collected during the first week alone. Demand for the vehicle did not stop the following year either, increasing the number to 650 thousand in June 2020. As Electrek wrote, in May 2021, the number of reservations exceeded one million, and today it has reached almost 1.5 million, although Tesla has not officially confirmed this.
That way, the American company has enough vehicles on order for the first three years of production, and CEO Elon Musk has said Tesla will stop accepting orders from Europe and China.
The Cybertruck will be manufactured at the Texas plant, and the order book will remain open for North American customers.
The Cybertruck was introduced in 2019, but after numerous delays, it was decided that production would not begin until 2023. European buyers usually receive their vehicles much later than North American buyers, as the country of origin is usually first to receive shipments.
In addition, homologation issues due to the specific design of the Cybertruck model will also affect the delivery date shift for the European market.
Musk has previously said that a smaller version of the truck with a slightly different design could be made for Europe.
