What is the fear of driving a car called?

There are two words that explain the fear of driving a car. The first is vehophobia and refers to the fear of driving a car, while the phobia of being in a car is amaxophobia.

Amaxophobia includes the process of driving itself, but also driving or any other form of transport as a passenger. Etymologically, the word comes from the Greek amaxos (chariot) and phobos (fear).

The causes of these phobias can be survival in a traffic accident, but also a vague fear of driving or traveling. Symptoms that a person with amaxophobia has are sweating, dizziness, upset stomach, tightness in the chest, rapid heartbeat, the urge to cry or scream, along with negative thoughts, worries and fears.

The Spanish actress Penelope Cruz, after the premiere of the movie "Ferrari", has admitted that she has a phobia since childhood.

"My sister was hit by a car right in front of me, when I was eight or nine years old, I remember the driver was wearing a red coat. It was a big trauma, I saw him lose consciousness. I was paralyzed", she said.
