The Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, has said that he is waiting for the final reports on the death of the four-year-old girl in Gjakova.

The four-year-old girl, as the Police announced in the 24-hour report, was being treated at the University Clinical Center of Kosovo since February 17. On February 19, she died, while her body was sent for autopsy to the Institute of Forensic Medicine. The family members complained about negligence from the Gjakova Hospital. Civil society organizations have said that the case has raised serious concerns about standards of medical practice and the protection of children's rights.

Vitia has requested reports from the health institutions where the four-year-old was treated.

The Health Inspectorate, according to Viti, has gone to the field and together with the responsible institutions are working on clarifying this case.

"Obviously, it has affected us all that it is a very serious case and we are extremely saddened. As soon as I found out, I immediately asked the SHSKUK directorate for reports from the General Hospital in Gjakovë and from all secondary and tertiary level institutions that have treated the four-year-old girl. At the same time, the Health Inspectorate went to these institutions and is still active today in this regard, and at the same time we are waiting for the latest reports from the medical-legal expertise so that we have all the correct information at the end. At the moment, of course, anything I can say could be wrong because without the reports I mentioned and without the forensic expertise, but also the investigations by the investigation unit and the prosecution, I cannot answer if there is something behind this," he told EO. .
