The registration of war crimes is questioned
The Statistics Agency of Kosovo has foreseen that with the population census it will also record the war crimes of 1998-1999. According to the officials of this institution, this proposal came from institutions and individuals while the questionnaire was in public discussion. But, representatives of missing persons say that this process can be misused since, according to them, the verification of those data is impossible
Twenty-four years after the war, it is planned to register the crimes and damages of the 1999 war. This is planned to be done with the population census, a process that has been postponed until next year. The Statistics Agency of Kosovo, which will carry out this process, says that this registration will include the period from February 28, 1998 to June 11, 1999.
"The proposal for war damages came from institutions and individuals during the period when the questionnaire was in public discussion. The period covered is February 28, 1998 - June 11, 1999," said Hazbije Qeriqi from the Kosovo Statistics Agency.
