The project of drawing up the Municipal Development Plan in Shtime is delayed

Since the beginning of the pandemic, dozens of public debates have failed in the Municipality of Shtime.

As a consequence of this, the drafting of the document for the Municipal Development Plan, which for the next eight years foresees the development of the city and infrastructure, as well as the construction of public institutions, has been delayed.

Municipal officials in Shtime ask citizens to respond to their requests for participation in public debates, to provide remarks and suggestions regarding this document.

Shqipe Rexhaj, Director of Urbanism in the Municipality of Shtime, said that this document is very important for the development of the city.

"The pandemic has affected the Municipal Development Plan as well as any other project, because we have had many problems with public debates in which participation has been very small; electronically, we have had no complaints and requests from citizens, while citizens have not logged into online networks, because they have had problems, or they have not had information on how these networks are used for meetings", said Rexhaj.

The monitor from the "Akademia" Youth Center, Resul Gashi, has stated that during the last months they have repeatedly asked citizens to participate in public hearings about the Municipal Development Plan, which resolves disputes and property problems of their localities.

"I also invite the Municipality of Shtime to design more successful and productive policies or methods that encourage citizens to participate in public hearings first, then citizens also increase their awareness of participation in these public hearings and obviously with their participation, every work and every discussion that takes place is much more effective and efficient", stated Gashi.

The Municipality hopes that this draft document will be finalized in February 2021 and will be presented to the parliamentarians for addition and amendment.
