"These two projects have stalled entirely as a result of the sanctions against Kosovo, as a result of the wrong and completely incompetent decision-making of the Government, which has shown itself to be amateurish in its actions and managerial policies", said Zogaj
Punitive measures against Kosovo, which the European Union is keeping in force since last year's riots in the north, according to the Municipality of Pristina, have caused the delay and non-realization of a number of capital projects in the capital. The Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Pristina, Alban Zogaj, said that it is about the construction projects of the Concert Hall and the Art Gallery, which have not yet started.
"These two projects have stalled entirely as a result of the sanctions against Kosovo, as a result of the wrong and completely incompetent decision-making of the Government, which has shown itself to be amateurish in its actions and managerial policies. The government must agree with our EU partners, but also with other partners, such as the United States of America, to coordinate with them, because this is as disturbing as it is inexcusable", said the deputy mayor of the Municipality of Pristina , Alban Zogaj.
The EU donation for this project has already been suspended.
Fidan Qerimi, an expert on economic issues, says that the measures made it impossible for Kosovo to access assistance funds for EU membership.
"We have consequences from the measures that have been taken by the EU towards Kosovo, we have a suspension of our last approach of 14.2 billion euros that are intended for the states that are for assistance for EU membership. This assistance has an impact on the transition and building of institutions, international cooperation, regional development", he said.
The impact with greater consequences, according to Qerimi, has to do with the economy that affects the development and well-being of citizens.
"Some businesses, some jobs were lost there, but what is important is that the products of those businesses are not in the Kosovar market that we have extraordinary imports of this part and it is a chain effect that has an impact in several areas, in some parts that have an impact on the economy and well-being of the population of Kosovo", he said.
The European Union imposed punitive measures on Kosovo in June of last year. They include the suspension of the funding program for Kosovo by the IPA. Within the framework of IPA3, the EU has pledged to allocate more than 62 million euros to Kosovo.
