Deputy Minister Durmishi is invited by the Special Prosecutor's Office for the Pristina-Podujevë road

Hysen Durmishi

The Deputy Minister of Infrastructure, Hysen Durmishi, announced that he was invited by the Special Prosecutor's Office to be interviewed regarding the signing of contracts for the Pristina-Podujevë road.

He wrote on Facebook that he was invited "based on the speculations of an economic operator", and according to him, the cases he previously sent to the Prosecutor's Office are not being handled.

"I would like to inform you that I have received an invitation from the special prosecutor's office for an interview on May 8. When I received the invitation, I thought that they are finally inviting me to ask me about the case that I submitted to the special prosecutor's office almost three years ago. But no, they had invited me for the signing of the contracts for the Pristina - Podujevë road. Probably someone is getting in the way of the dynamics of the works in this project because everything is going according to plan. To invite the deputy minister for an interview based on the speculations of an economic operator, even after the decision of the PRB that gives us the right as the contracting authority, seems to me frankly meaningless. The complaint of that economic operator was also declared unfounded by decision", wrote Durmishi on Tuesday.

The Deputy Minister has emphasized that he will go to the Special Prosecutor's Office on May 8 "to show them that I am happy to be a signatory of the contracts for the Pristina-Podujevo road".

"How many cases have I sent to the special prosecutor's office, the basic prosecutor's office and the police for economic crimes, and none of them are being dealt with, on the contrary, they drag on for years and years even though there are as many facts as you want about crime and corruption. The case of bridge maintenance, for example, where from the planned 500 euros, the contract ends at 5 euros. I don't know what other fact the prosecutor needs to act. On May 300, I will go to the Special Prosecutor's Office to tell you that I am happy to be a signatory of the contracts for the Pristina - Podujevë road.  I would like other projects to follow the dynamics of the work being done on this road. I will continue to do my job with honor and dedication despite the obstacles that come our way", he declared.

In August of last year, the consortium of civil society organizations "CorrWatch" had identified a number of violations in the tender for the Pristina-Podujevë road. According to the report, the Ministry of Infrastructure has illegally signed a contract even though there was an unexamined complaint in the Procurement Review Body for this tendering procedure. "CorrWatch" has requested an investigation of these contracts, as well as the annulment of the decisions.

Last year, the Procurement Regulatory Commission also alerted the Prishtina-Podujevo road tender, giving a warning to the Ministry.
