Under the patronage of the President, Vjosa Osmani, and in collaboration with the organization "JETA/VITA", the traditional informative-cultural event was held with the motto "EARLY DETECTION - SURVIVORS", within the framework of the International Breast Cancer Awareness Month, reports Ekonomia Online.
Osmani said that this month is above all a reminder of courage and life, encouraging every woman not to be afraid of regular checkups.
"This month we don't just talk about pain, but we talk above all about courage. We don't talk about disease, but we talk about life. Today we are here to honor the cause and the spirit, the spirit of women who did not give up, who faced fear and turned it into strength. Every check-up, every regular examination is an opportunity for life. I want to encourage every woman not to be afraid of check-ups. Breast cancer is not the end, it can be a very challenging chapter," said Osmani.
The director of the organization "JETA/VITA", Nafije Latifi, said that this day is a moment of reflection on the challenges that remain in healthcare, emphasizing the need for specialized staff, more treatment spaces, and the creation of a palliative care center for patients in advanced stages.
"I consider that today is also a moment of reflection, because despite the progress that is evident, we still face a lack of sufficient staff, a need for more treatment spaces, for more advanced drugs, and above all for the creation of a palliative care center where patients would be offered pain relief and a more dignified end to their lives. Without this vital service, many patients face great suffering, leaving behind families traumatized for life. I cannot pass without also asking the fundamental question for all of us, have we really placed the patient at the center of our health system, or are we doing everything we can or perhaps we lack empathy, responsibility and human sensitivity that are often worth more than any therapy," she said.
Meanwhile, the representative from Oncology, Dafina Ademi, said that Kosovo was once in the dark about information regarding this disease, but that now there has been a significant improvement in awareness and treatment of women.

March for breast cancer awareness
"Breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting women in Kosovo. This year, 330 women and three men affected by breast cancer have been registered in our clinic. The best overall survival for this disease is achieved when we have a comprehensive management of it. Raising awareness, health education, early detection, timely diagnosis, breast surgery... are the links in the management of breast cancer. Now Kosovo breathes differently, we can talk about a more aware population to recognize the signs and symptoms of cancer, we talk about more diagnostic equipment," said Ademi.
As part of this event, a march was also held in the squares of the capital, with the participation of dozens of citizens, institutions and organizations that support the fight against breast cancer. /EO
