On the 26th anniversary of the fall of commander Zahir Pajaziti, heads of institutions laid flowers and commemorated his sacrifice.
The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, stated that Zahir Pajaziti and all the fallen are remembered as heralds of freedom, for inspiration and glory.
"On this 26th anniversary of the fall of our heroes, we commemorate them as messengers of freedom, for the extraordinary inspiration that Zahiri and his friends gave. For all the KLA soldiers, for all those who fought for Zahiri, an even greater inspiration, but also for all those who joined the Kosovo Liberation Army. "This day is one of the most glorious in the history of the KLA, and of the entire Republic of Kosovo," declared Osmani.
According to the president, the Republic of Kosovo was created on the strong foundations of the blood of martyrs and heroes.
"Commemoration and respect will remain eternal, but also our work in strengthening the state, which was built with blood, will be guided by this sacrifice and heroism, their example that was given 26 years ago", she added.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that the commemoration of Commander Zahir Pajaziti and other martyrs shows how great the price was for freedom, state and independence.
"26 years ago, commander Zahir Pajaziti, together with Hakif Zejnullahu and Edmond Hoxha, fell in Pestovo, Vushtrri. They were the dedication to the liberation war and the forerunners of the liberation war. Remembering and commemorating the commander and the other martyrs, we show how great the price was for freedom, the state and independence and how valuable their memory is for now and for the future".

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Donika Gërvalla emphasized that the sacrifice of the KLA soldiers is a guide for today's affairs.
On January 31, 1997, the commander Zahir Pajaziti together with fellow fighters Hakif Zejnullahu and Edmond Hoxha were ambushed by Serbian forces, in the village of Pestovë in Vushtrri.
Pajaziti has been declared "Hero of Kosovo".
