WEF: Albania, the best roads in the Balkans

The World Economic Forum (WEF) ranked Albania as the country with the best road infrastructure in the Western Balkans.

In the latest global competitiveness report, the Economic Forum evaluates the quality of roads in Albania with a grade of 4.3, out of 7, which is the maximum rating.

According to the report, all other countries in the region, including Serbia, have a poorer quality of roads than Albania, and are evaluated with grades ranging from 3 to 3.7, writes Tch.

The historical data of the report show that Albania is one of the countries with the greatest improvement in road infrastructure in the last decade. In 2008, it was ranked 114th in the world in terms of road quality. But, within 5 years, it jumped to 59th place, while it is currently ranked 57th in the world.

But, although it is the first in the class in the region, compared to the developed countries of the European Union, Albania continues to lag behind. According to the Economic Forum, in the developed economies of the EU, the quality of the roads is assessed on average with a grade of 5.6, which means that Albania will still have to invest billions of euros to build a modern road network, which helps the economy.

At the same time, the data show that in other aspects of infrastructure, especially railway and air transport, Albania ranks in the last 30 countries in the world.
