The VV accuses the government in Pristina of buying assembly members

Media conference of the Vetëvendosje Movement in Prishtina

Assembly member of the Vetëvendosje movement in Prishtina, Gëzim Sveçla, and organizational secretary of this party in Pristina, Egzon Azemi, have accused the assemblymen of the ruling party, the Democratic League of Kosovo, of selling votes.

According to them, certain assemblymen are selling their vote for million-dollar bargains, including the benefit of houses in luxurious neighborhoods of the capital.

"We have invited the conference on the million-dollar shopping that is happening in the municipality of Pristina.... The purchase of assemblers has also begun. There are also objections among the LDK on these items of the agenda. Certain assemblymen have been offered three houses for voting. We call on the assembly members to continue on the right path", said Azemi.

While the other assembly member of the opposition, Gëzim Sveçla, has justified the action taken today in the hall of the Municipal Assembly, where he unplugged the microphone, saying that this was the reason for such an action, which he called a "symbolic action" .

In a press conference held after the session held for the approval of the 2025 budget for the Municipality of Pristina, Sveçla apologized for, as he said, defunctionalizing the microphone, saying that such an action was not done for the approval of the budget, but for some decisions that would be taken in the session and that, according to him, are to the detriment of the city.

"The case that happened has nothing to do with the approval of the budget. As an assemblyman, I have taken an action that you have all seen. It is about the defunctionalization of the microphone that for a very short time was functionalized again. It is not about vandalism of the Assembly hall, it is about a political action, a symbolic action that was necessary in order to at least temporarily interrupt that session where some decisions would be taken that are very harmful for the city and the residents of Pristina" , Sveçla said.

He further announced that at 14:00 he will be interviewed by the law enforcement agencies regarding today's action.

"I apologize to the citizens of Pristina for the images that have been served to them, but beyond any appearance, the content is important. This has to do with the prohibition of approval of the plan of the projects that suffocate the city. At 14:00 I will give a statement to the police, as I have been invited", he said.

Outside the facility of the Municipality of Prishtina, a banner has been placed, which reads "Municipality of Devils", as a sign of protest for, as it was said, "alienation of property".
