Vučić on the flow of the Ibar River: It is our internal issue, I don't know what it has to do with Albania

Presidenti i Serbisë, Aleksandar Vu[iq, ka thënë se çështja e devijimit të rrjedhës së lumit Ibër është “çështje e brendshme e Serbisë”. Ai për televizionin serb “RTS” ka thënë se nuk di se çfarë lidhje ka “Ibri me Shqipërinë”. 

“Është çështje e brendshme e jona. Nuk e di se çfarë lidhjeje ka Ibri me Shqipërinë”, tha Vuçiq. 

Deklarata kërcënuese e presidentit serb, Vuçiq, për mundësinë e ndërrimit të rrjedhës së lumit Ibër është vlerësuar shoviniste e destabilizuese nga ushtruesja e detyrës së presidentes së Kosovës, Albulena Haxhiu. E në reagimin e tij, ministri i Jashtëm i Shqipërisë, Ferit Hoxha, ka thënë se uji nuk mund të përdoret si instrument presioni politik e as si mjet për të ndëshkuar një vend.

"Serbia has been a party to the UNECE Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes since 2010 and has also accepted its dispute resolution mechanisms. Albania expects Serbia to fully respect its international obligations and the principles of good neighborliness... Water cannot be used as an instrument of political pressure nor as a means to punish another country or population. Albania strongly supports Kosovo's right to security, sustainable development and the protection of its water resources," Minister Hoxha wrote.

Presidenti serb në deklaratën e tij nuk e ka fshehur qëllimin e idesë për Ibrin, duke thënë se “meqë serbët po maltretohen në Kosovë, me ndryshimin e rrjedhës së tij do të shohim se çfarë do të bëjnë dhe si do të sillen shqiptarët”. I njëjti, edhe në dhjetor të vitit 2024, pas sulmit terrorist në kanalin e Ibër-Lepencit, ka thënë se ideja e ndryshimit të rrjedhës së Ibrit ekziston që nga viti 1985. 

"We have already invited experts who deal with this issue, the construction sector, engineers and others. Since they are mistreating our people so much, let's see, we have different reasons for changing the course of the Ibar, and then we will see what the Albanians will do and how they will behave," Vučić declared on August 9 during a visit to a workshop in Belgrade.
