Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has said that he will speak to Europeans as well as people in Washington about the issue of the bridge over the Ibar River.
During a visit to Raska, he was asked about the opening of the bridge over the Ibar and the traffic of vehicles.
He mentioned the date September 1st and said he is afraid about this issue.
"I am also afraid and everyone is afraid and that is why we will pray and ask. And again I will call and I will not have difficulty calling everyone, even if I have to call Washington, everyone who can help with this issue, anyone who can help. First of all I will ask people in Europe to help. If people in Europe want to help, if they can, they will help, if they cannot... and I will call Washington, I will also ask them so that this does not happen," Vučić emphasized, RTS reports.
On August 10, the NATO Mission in Kosovo, KFOR, announced that it had begun the gradual transition to a permanent presence at the Ibar Bridge in Mitrovica. As KFOR announced, this is taking place as the security situation in Kosovo improves, as part of the process of gradually reducing KFOR's presence.
Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti has said that Kosovo institutions are in constant communication with KFOR regarding the full opening of the main bridge over the Ibar River and its "complete takeover" by the Kosovo Police.

He added that after the construction of new bridges, it is pointless for the Ibar Bridge to continue to be closed.
"After the construction of the new bridges, it has become absurd to keep that bridge closed, and the fact that citizens have freely circulated across these new bridges and there has been no increase in either incidents or tensions shows that the movement of people and goods is beneficial not only for the economy but also for peace and security," Kurti stressed.
