The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, during her visit to Montenegro in a meeting with the President, Jakov Millatović, said that EU enlargement is at the top of the European Commission's priorities.

She emphasized that Montenegro has long been the country that has made a lot of progress on its way to the EU.
"I am glad that you are determined to maintain that position", she emphasized.
Von der Leyen said that Montenegro should now fully focus on the EU accession process.

"We need to finish that process together. I look forward to meeting the new prime minister after this conference," she added.
The President of the EC said that she also spoke with Millatović about the need to "align our economies". She noted that Montenegro has the potential to be a major supplier of electricity in the region.
"The prospect of full membership of Montenegro in the European Union even before 2030 is quite realistic and possible", said the president, Jakov Milatović.
Millatović, after the conversation with von der Leyen, declared that finally the Western Balkans is at the top of the European Union's agenda "after many years of inactivity", and according to him, this is happening because of the commitment of the president of the European Commission.
"Today's visit and the series of encouraging messages sent by President von der Leyen make us understand a sincere commitment to revitalizing the enlargement process," said Milatović.
He said he believes that Montenegro's membership in the EU would be a great message to all candidate countries that the enlargement process is alive.
