Von Cramon: Government propaganda weakens Kosovo's chances for progress

Viola von Cramon

The rapporteur for Kosovo in the European Parliament, Viola von Cramon, reacted after her advisor, Gjorgje Bojović, said that an online campaign was launched against him regarding the statements he made in 2015 about the war crimes committed in Kosovo.

She raised the question of who they will help with those posts, that "of course not Kosovo and its European integration". She herself is also criticized in the posts on the account.

"Fake news, disinformation campaigns, government propaganda... will not change anyone's position, but will simply weaken Kosovo's chances to progress quickly. This is sad for the country", she wrote on the X platform.

Von Cramon has attached the post of the former diplomat of Kosovo, Petrit Selimi, on this issue. Selimi wrote that accounts on the platform that support the ruling party in Kosovo are attacking every foreigner - ambassador, MEP, emissary - who has any criticism of their leader, Albin Kurti.

"I am concerned when I see accounts that personally attack friends of Kosovo, such as Viola von Cramon (and her staff), QUINT ambassadors and diplomats (some of whom, like Hovenieri, have helped Kosovo since the time of Ahtisaari or Rambujesa), Ali Ahmet, Edi Rama, and others", wrote Selimi.

KOHA sent questions to the Government on Saturday afternoon. As soon as there is a response, the article will be updated.
