The head of the PDK and the Assembly of Kosovo, Kadri Veseli, has said that he has sent a letter to the Prosecution Council of Kosovo.
And on his Facebook profile, Veseli said that "the Kosovo Liberation Army is a direct product of the people of Kosovo".
"Only by being like that, she managed to fulfill her historic mission: the final liberation of the homeland. Let's be clear: The freedom we enjoy today did not come only from the rifles of the boys and girls enlisted in the Kosovo Liberation Army. It also came from the unsparing contribution of an entire people, from each citizen, who, in different times, places and with different opportunities, committed themselves to making the great dream of freedom a reality," wrote Veseli.
According to him, this all-people commitment, in no way, should be confused with the issue of veterans' lists.
"Among the country's political and institutional leaders, I was the first to draw attention to the fact that mistakes, omissions and manipulations are being made in the process of verifying the status of KLA veterans. For this, the evidence is available to everyone. All it takes is a simple internet search. Since that time, I have received hundreds of letters and met dozens of ex-combatants, who testified to me about the manipulations and injustices that were done to them in the verification process. For this, I have given full support to the investigation process of these manipulations, which, today, are also being confirmed by the former commanders of the operational areas of the KLA. "I was invited by the former prosecutor Elez Blakaj to testify, to which invitation I responded positively and with great responsibility," Veseli said.
Veseli expressed his conviction that prosecutor Blakaj started his work well, but it remained half-finished.
"Transparency of the situation created around him should become complete and everyone should take responsibility for their actions and inactions. Anyone and regardless of the function they exercise in the state of Kosovo. The investigations started by prosecutor Blakaj must and will continue. They must intensify. Transparency and accountability must and will be complete. I say this as a former KLA fighter, as a political and institutional leader and as a taxpayer. This means three things: There are no fake veterans in the lists of veterans, the state institutions do not dare to make any concessions regarding the rule of law, and no one dares to waste the taxes of the citizens of Kosovo. One might, quite rightly, ask how my family stands on the matter of veterans' lists. Since 1991, when I went underground, my family has been an active part of my commitment. Later, all of them were part of the war, but only one of them became a veteran. I have done an unjust act with my family members, denying them a legitimate right, just so that there are no misunderstandings and to set a personal example. The facts are and can be easily verified by anyone who wants to," said Veseli.
He said that the KLA arose to put an end to a great historical injustice.
"Today, we must not allow anyone to do injustice, neither in her name nor in her name."
