The North under the pressure of Vučić's reception

On the eve of the visit of the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić to the north of Kosovo, the municipalities of this part of the country, inhabited by a majority of Serbs, are urgently preparing for his reception, as well as fixing the road infrastructure.

In the light of the continuation of talks in Brussels and the possible final solution between Kosovo and Serbia, the Serbs in the north of Kosovo are waiting for what will be communicated to them during the next weekend, when Vucic's visit has been announced.

The head of the Office for Kosovo of the Government of Serbia, Marko Gjuric, has warned the visit of the Serbian president as more comprehensive and substantive.

Miladija Petkovic from North Mitrovica, says that she expects a lot from this visit.

"We expect a lot from the president, but we don't know what he can do for us. Here it is quite difficult. For example, to secure the drugs we have to go to Rashka, unfortunately. But, what can we do, he is trying as much as he can and he is happy about it", said Petkovic.

But, she added that it is difficult to reach any solution for the current situation.

"I want to, but it can hardly happen. Very difficult. You see how much they are against, even among us, ours. But he (President Vucic) is powerful," said Petkovic.

Nemanja Misić from North Mitrovica says that she does not expect Vučić's current visit to be more important than the previous ones.

"I think that in essence it will be the same as last time when the president came, although I heard yesterday that the deadline (for reaching an agreement) has been postponed to 2019. So, there is only a lot of noise and nothing more . We just have to stay here, to keep the job, so that we can live. Then, maybe it will get better, step by step", said Misic.

As has been announced, it is expected that Serbian President Vučić will end his visit on Sunday, with an address to the gathering in North Mitrovica.

The abbot of the Monastery in Deçan, Sava Janjiq, wrote earlier on the Twitter social network that the so-called lists of workers are being made in Serbian schools, who must be present at the rally on September 9, and that the order came from an important institution. state of Serbia.

Such an action, according to the president of the European Movement of Kosovo, Rada Trajkovic, is completely, as she calls it, a "public secret". Speaking for Radio Free Europe, she says that, however, compared to the past periods when the pressure came only from the institutions of the state of Serbia, now this pressure also comes from the institutions of Kosovo.

"Considering that all the solutions for the framework come through (Milan) Radoicic (vice-president of the Serbian List) from North Mitrovica, who contracts the employment of people in the institutions of Kosovo, now the Serbs of Kosovo, from both sides, are postponed and they need to respond to the work obligation, which means mandatory presence every time Vucic visits the space of Kosovo", said Trajkovic.

She added that parallel lists of those who want and those who do not want to be present at the rally have been made.

"Those who don't accept are allegedly threatened with dismissal, but the people, however, are showing a certain resistance even to such pressures, which are related to their existence," said Trajković.

As far as the institutions of Kosovo are concerned, Trajkovic said that it is about the local self-governments and their branches, namely the bodies of these institutions, ministries and ministers, which are in the Government of Kosovo. According to her, "through their mechanisms, pressure is put on the population, on the returnees, as well as on people who receive certain allowances, social benefits, pensions and others".

The Serbian President Vucic and the President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, will meet again on Friday, September 7, within the framework of the Brussels dialogue. Meanwhile, two days later, on Sunday, September 9, Vucic will visit Kosovo, as has been said, to talk with the Serbian residents.

Until now, President Thaçi has stated several times that in Brussels he will present the initiative for the correction of the border between Kosovo and Serbia, which also means the union of the Presheva Valley with Kosovo, but not the division or exchange of territories or autonomy for the Serbs. . Meanwhile, Serbian President Vučić has declared that he is committed to setting the borders with the Albanians in Kosovo (REL).
