Today, a pedestrian bridge was inaugurated over the Ibar River, connecting the south with the north of Mitrovica.
The construction of the new bridge over the Ibar River, alongside the central one that divides Mitrovica into the Albanian-majority south and the predominantly Serb-populated north, was carried out following a memorandum signed between the Ministry of Infrastructure and the two municipalities, South and North Mitrovica.
In August of this year, the bridge for vehicles was also inaugurated.
The two new bridges in Mitrovica have been built near the central one, which is part of the Freedom of Movement Agreement reached within the framework of the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue facilitated by official Brussels.
On Wednesday, acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti attended the inauguration of the bridge.

"In every meeting we reiterate our position that the bridge should be open. We have 77 bridges over the Ibar River, some of them in Montenegro and Serbia. On the main bridge there are people who should not be members of KFOR and this is done through dialogue and open conversation. We want to have trade exchange and free movement. The bridges over the Ibar belong to Mitrovica and the people of Mitrovica," Kurti said.
