Journalist Sylejman Shaqiri died on Saturday, the Association of Kosovo Journalists (AGK) announced.
Sylejman Shaqiri made an unparalleled contribution to journalism and the media. He began his career in the early 80s at Radio Ferizaj, where he served as editor-in-chief and director, and later continued at Radio Television of Prishtina as a journalist and editor-in-chief.
After the violent closure of RTP, his contribution continued at Radio Croatia and Radio Tirana. After the war, he held the highest positions, including that of Director General of Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK), where he was also news editor and host of several shows.
"Shaqiri will be remembered for his professionalism, dedication to the profession and his leading role in the development of the media in Kosovo. The Kosovo Journalists Association expresses its most sincere condolences to the Shaqiri family, his colleagues and friends," the AGK statement said.
