UNDP has delivered 41 test kits for COVID-19 to the National Institute for Public Health (IKSHPK).
The purchase of these was financed by the Government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the Government of Austria.
"The test kits were purchased for 500,000 EUR, by agreement with the government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg through Lux Development SA at a total value of 1 million EUR, half of which will be used to provide humanitarian aid to 2000 families, and the agreement with the Austrian government through the Austrian Development Cooperation in the total amount of EUR 250,000", has been announced by UNDP.
At the ceremony were the Minister of Health, Armend Zemaj, the general director of SHSKUK, Valbon Krasniqi, Valbona Bogujevci, assistant to the Permanent Representative in UNDP, the ambassador of Austria in Kosovo, Sh.T. Christoph Weidinger, the head of the Austrian Cooperation for Development office in Kosovo, Gunther Zimmer, the director of IKSHPK, Naser Ramadani.
"My participation here today to accept this last donation on behalf of the institutions and the people of Kosovo, makes me very proud to be able to say thank you to our international friends who are continuously supporting us to overcome this global challenge. We are working non-stop to reduce and prevent the further spread of the pandemic and slowly but surely, we have the first results. The sheer number of tests we're getting today means a lot for public health protection. I want to thank the governments of Luxembourg and Austria for funding and UNDP for purchasing this contingent of test kits," said Zemaj.
